Turkey's Trade Ministry said in a statement that its teams discovered the narcotics during an inspection of the cargo in the ships carrying the drugs.

The ship reportedly left South America and arrived in Turkey after a stop in Spain, and was registered as "risky," prompting the Turkish Trade Ministry's x-ray of the cargo upon its entrance in the port.

An inspection of the cargo with narcotic canines and x-ray revealed 30 kilos of cocaine hidden in three backpacks. 

Three people were arrested in relation to the incident.
