Three people were detained in relation to the chemicals, transported from Hong Kong via aircraft and scheduled to be transported to the Netherlands via land transportation.
An analysis of the chemicals revealed that the substances were intermediate ingredients for the production of amphetamines and methamphetamines.
The chemicals were also reportedly controlled substances according to the United Nations and the Turkish Health Ministry.
The airport customs teams' narcotics department recovered the chemicals in two different shipments, the second one of which weighed some 2.19 tons.
