Ecuador's name is mentioned very frequently in cocaine shipments to Turkey. The 1.3 tons of cocaine seized in Turkey's southern province of Mersin in June 2021 were also from Ecuador. This operation at the Mersin Port was recorded as the highest amount of cocaine seized at one time in Turkey.
The U.S. government included Ecuador in the list of the countries with the largest shipments or production of drugs in the world last September.
