Turkish authorities on July 15 and 16 detained five people over the fatal fire in the touristic Çeşme district of the western İzmir province.
The fire in the Alaçatı neighborhood killed three people on July 15. Nearby residents were evacuated after the fire broke out.
İzmir Governor Süleyman Elban said the fire started by a spark while welding and sawing work was being carried out in a garden, then it spread to the shrubs.
Elban added the three dead people panicked and escaped from their houses to the field. Their houses were reportedly not damaged due to the fire.
The fire was brought under control on July 15.
