13-year-old Syrian child worker dies in Turkish factory

A 13-year-old Syrian child has died at a Turkish factory where she was working. Another child was wounded when trying to help her.

A 13-year-old Syrian child has died at a citrus factory where she was working in the southern province of Mersin.

The child, Ula Kerem, was working next to the packaging machine when her scarf got stuck. Other workers at the factory attempted to save her, but to no avail. 

The arm of another child, Şehed El İbrahim, got stuck in the machine as he tried to help and he was taken to a hospital. 

Kerem died at the scene. 

An investigation was launched into the workplace death.
