5.2 million tourists visit Istanbul in first four months of 2024

According to data from the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, 5.2 million tourists visited Istanbul in the first four months of 2024 with a 10 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Over 5.2 million tourists visited Turkey’s megacity Istanbul, data from the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism revealed.

Accordingly, this figure increased by around 10 percent compared to the same period in 2023, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

1.4 million of tourists visited Istanbul in April. Over 1 million tourists entered the megacity by Istanbul Airport in April, whereas merely 394,772 from the Sabiha Gökçen.

Russians ranked first among foreign visitors with 167,824 tourists in April figures, followed by 109,202 Germans, and 80,913 Iranians. 

While tourists from 199 countries visited Istanbul in April, one person each from Puerto Rico, Nauru, Tonga, Somaliland, Sao Tome and Principe, Samoa, and North Korea visited the megacity. Two people each from Tuvalu and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines visited Istanbul.
