The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's metro company on March 25 was forced to temporarily suspend the T1 Kabataş-Bağcılar tram line after election posters of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) mayoral candidate Murat Kurum became entangled in the energy wires along the route.

Metro Istanbul tweeted that they could not provide service at some stops due to the "poster hung on Galata Bridge despite warnings.”

It can be seen that Kurum’s poster was hung directly on the line in the photograph that the municipality’s company shared.

The tram line returned its regular route after one hour.

On March 13, the tram services at the same line were also disrupted after Kurum’s election posters hung on the tram line getting tangled in the energy wires.
