The governor’s office of southeastern Urfa province has cancelled singer İkkay Akkaya’s concert planned at a shopping mall for Sept. 25 on the grounds that it “was not seen appropriate for general security, public order, safety and peace.”
Akkaya slammed this decision in a social media post and shared the notice penned by the governor’s office. “We all know that the things written here (reasons for cancellation) are not real. As we also know that calling these bans ‘concert cancellation’ does not reflect the truth. You will not be able to reach anywhere with these bans. I will continue to sing my songs,” the singer tweeted.
This is not the first time that a governor’s office has cancelled Akkaya’s concert. The governor’s office of southern Adana’s Ceyhan district had cancelled her concert on Aug. 30, again citing the same reasons.
And the governor’s office of the southeastern Mardin province had cancelled Akkaya’s concert planned for Sept. 24 on the allegation that “some of the singers in the artist’s team engaged in the activities praising the PKK/KCK terror organization’s ringleader.”
