Bad news to Turkey from Russia overshadows Libya deals

Murat Yetkin writes: Libyan PM Dbeibeh returned from Ankara with five agreements in his briefcase beside the vaccine. However, just as Erdoğan met with the Libyan delegation, a strong statement came from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who advised Ankara to “refrain from encouraging militarist tendencies in Kiev."

Prominent journalist Murat Yetkin has penned a piece on the recent developments regarding Turkey's foreign policy, focusing on Russia's decision to impose flight restrictions, rapprochement with Egypt and a series of deals signed between Ankara and Libya.

"Ankara was happy with a good meeting with Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Mohammed Dbeibeh but the bad news came from Russia," Yetkin said on Yetkin Report, before going on to analyze the recent developments.

"Just as Erdoğan met with the Libyan delegation, a strong statement came from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who was in Cairo at that time. He was meeting with al-Sisi and Shoukry. He advised Ankara to 'refrain from encouraging militarist tendencies in Kiev,' when asked by a journalist about Turkey’s sale of TB-2 unmanned aircraft to Ukraine," he said.

"Soon after, it was heard that Russia limited flights to Turkey to twice a week."
