A lawmaker from the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) has said that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) are about to fall from power.
CHP deputy chair Aykut Erdoğdu said that everyone should make preparations accordingly, since the AKP and Erdoğan "will be gone in the next elections.
"Let me say something to those trusting them [AKP and Erdoğan] This guy and his team are about to be gone. There is no way that he will stay in power. The entire business, bureaucracy and judicial world should make plans accordingly," Erdoğdu said on Jan. 12, adding that he can't stay in power "if the public doesn't want him to."
"You will be gone as soon as the people cast votes against you," he also said.
Saying that pro-government figures are after purchasing real estate from Britain to escape, Erdoğdu noted that they have to "give what they stole from the public back."
He also slammed the government's infrastructure projects, saying that bridges and highways were built for land rent.
"When you ask for democracy and justice, Tayyip Erdoğan will leave," Erdoğdu said.
"Our people need to seize their own destinies. Our state is being occupied by a bad team," he added.
