CHP leader names party's top brass after congress

CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has named the party's new top brass, the Central Executive Board (MYK), after its 37th ordinary congress. The number of individuals in the CHP MYK was decreased to 16 from 18. Tuncay Özkan and Ünal Çeviköz were left out, while Böke, Ali Öztunç, Yüksel Taşkın and Ahmet Akın were handed posts.

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has named the party's new top brass, the Central Executive Board (MYK), after its 37th ordinary congress.

Selin Sayek Böke was selected as the general secretary, while Oğuz Kaan Salıcı became the deputy chair responsible for party branches and Faik Öztrak was selected as party spokesperson.

Böke was previously the deputy leader and party spokeswoman of the CHP, but had resigned from her duties over differences in opinion with party leadership.

The number of individuals in the CHP MYK was decreased to 16 from 18. Tuncay Özkan and Ünal Çeviköz were left out, while Böke, Ali Öztunç, Yüksel Taşkın and Ahmet Akın were handed posts.

In addition to Böke, Öztunç, Taşkın, Akın, Öztrak and Salıcı, Fethi Açıkel, Onursal Adıgüzel, Veli Ağbaba, Muharrem Erkek, Gökçe Gökçen, Gamze Akkuş İlgezdi, Lale Karabıyık, Gülizar Biçer Karaca, Bülent Kuşoğlu and Seyit Torun were selected for the MYK.

Five out of 16 MYK members are women and 14 are deputies.

CHP reelects Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu as party leader for seventh time

CHP reelected Kılıçdaroğlu as its leader for the seventh time during the party's congress on July 25.

Kılıçdaroğlu received the votes of 1,251 delegates out of 1,318 in the race that he was the sole candidate and was elected as the party leader for the seventh time.

Kılıçdaroğlu has been the party leader since 2010.
