Court arrests Turkish rapper Burry Soprano for 'inciting drug use' in his songs
A court has sentenced Turkish rapper Burry Soprano, who gained fame with the song "Mary Jane," to four years and two months in prison for "inciting drug use." Ezhel, who was also arrested on the same charges in the past, called for him to be freed.

Turkish rapper Burry Soprano, whose real name is Burak Aydoğduoğlu, was arrested on March 13 on charges of "inciting drug use."
Aydoğduoğlu, who authorities said was being sought over the said charge, was apprehended in a hotel in Istanbul's Silivri on March 12. He was previously sentenced to four years and two months in prison and was sent to jail on March 13 to serve that sentence.
The rapper gained fame with the song "Mary Jane," which was streamed millions of times.
Burry Soprano is not the first rapper that was arrested for "inciting drug use." In May 2018, Ezhel, whose real name is Sercan İpekçioğlu, was arrested for encouraging drug use in his song lyrics and video clips.
His arrest had led to a social media campaign by supporters, with many users calling for his release using the hashtag “FreeEzhel.” He was acquitted in the first hearing of the case in June 2018.
