Future Party leader Ahmet Davutoğlu has said that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has orchestrated a plot against him with the help of former Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu, and former prime minister Binali Yıldırım.

Davutoğlu, who served as the prime minister between 2014 and 2016, was responding to the allegations of Soylu, who on May 24 claimed that the Future Party leader illegally wiretapped ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputies following the June 7, 2015 elections.

"Soylu knows that everything he says is lies. He should show proof if he has any. I've never wiretapped by friends," Davutoğlu told broadcaster FOX TV on May 26.

The Future Party leader quit his post as prime minister in 2016 and ended his party membership in 2019. He has repeatedly said that politicians from the AKP organized a plot against him to make him resign. He was replaced by Yıldırım shortly after.

According to Davutoğlu, Soylu admitted that he was part of the plot with his remarks.

"They will be brought to account for that plot. I was left alone," he said.

Commenting on mafia leader Sedat Peker's allegations against Soylu, Davutoğlu said, "They are now fighting against each other," referring to the interparty conflicts.
