The editor-in-chief of Turkish-Armenian weekly newspaper Agos, Yetvart Danzikyan, said that over 140 Armenians left Turkey in a single day due to the heightened pro-Azerbaijan sentiment in the country.
Danzikyan said that 142 Armenians left Turkey on Oct. 28, demonstrating how Armenians in Turkey feel since the beginning of the clashes that erupted in Nagorno-Karabakh on Sept. 27.
"A total of 142 Armenians living in Turkey returned to their countries today. I know that a few people will care," Danzikyan said in a tweet on Oct. 28.
"We're losing. We're losing and bleeding together," he added.
Turkey is a staunch supporter of Azerbaijan and is said to have sent Syrian rebels to fight against Armenia.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev recently said that Baku is ready to use Turkish F-16s deployed in the country in case of a "foreign attack."
The pro-Azerbaijan sentiment is running high in Turkey, with nationalist groups staging demonstrations in Armenian neighborhoods of Istanbul with Azeri flags.
Hate speech against Armenians has also significantly increased, mainly on social media, following the renewed clashes.
