The new footage of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s army of guards running after his car has drawn ire on social media.

After an opening ceremony in Istanbul’s Pendik district on April 9, Erdoğan bought traditional Ramadan pita (“pide”) from a bakery. Erdoğan left the bakery after chatting with shopkeepers and citizens.

The footage showed Erdoğan's bodyguards running after his car after he left the bakery.

Erdoğan is known for traveling around with an army of guards. The Turkish Presidency's security guard department spent 527 million liras in 2022.
