President Erdoğan has said that the European Union can't maintain its existence strongly without Turkey's support and contribution. He also said that the bloc needs a new vision and institutional structure.

European Union can't maintain its existence in a strong manner without Turkey's support and contribution, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said in a message to mark Europe Day.
According to Erdoğan, the biggest obstacle facing the EU for it to become a "strong global actor" is the lack of strategic patience and vision.
"The European Union needs a new institutional structure, vision and inclusive discourse," he said, adding that the bloc should "review its decision-making mechanisms."
In his message, Erdoğan said that Turkey is ready to do its part in solving the problems the EU faces, adding that Ankara continues its efforts towards its "strategic goal" of becoming a member of the bloc.
The EU has failed to fulfill its promises given to Turkey and has been hindering its accession process, the president noted.
"I wish for Europe Day to make the EU get rid of its strategic blindness," Erdoğan said.
