The famous Turkish series “Kızılcık Şerbeti" (Cranberry Sherbet in English) will start airing on April 28 after the Ankara Regional Administrative overturned lifted the broadcast ban imposed by the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK), journalist Birsen Altuntaş has announced.

In response to the court’s ruling, the TV series’ producer Faruk Turgut tweeted, “Where were we?”

RTÜK on April 7 banned the TV series for five weeks, citing a scene of violence against a woman character. It also imposed an administrative fine of 1.5 million liras. For the last two weeks, Show TV Channel was required to air a documentary at the series’ hour.

The ban had received widespread reaction among the series’ fans who said that scene regarding the violence against the woman character depicts social realities. The producers of the show later filed an appeal with the judiciary.

The TV series centers around two families with opposing lifestyles and the challenges they face when trying to reconcile their differences. The show depicts the struggle that arises when children from secular and conservative families decide to get married and clash over their differing beliefs. The plot especially centers on the difficulties of the secular family adapting to the Islamic way of socialization such as the usage of alcohol.
