Four earthquakes below 5.1 magnitude rocked the Aegean province of İzmir on Feb. 1 within one hour, the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said some three months after a magnitude 6.6 jolt killed more than 110 people in the region.

The first quake, magnitude 4.1, struck the region at 8.03 a.m. on Feb. 1, followed by a much stronger 5.1-magnitude quake at 8.46 a.m. which was immediately succeeded by a 4.8-magnitude quake at 8.47 a.m.

The last jolt of the morning occurred in the same location as the first three at 9 a.m. and measured 4.7-magnitude.

Nearly three hours later, a magnitude 5.2 quake jolted the region again at 11.35 a.m., nearly halfway closer to sea level, Kandilli Observatory reported.

No deaths or injuries have been reported, but neighboring provinces reported feeling the jolts, İzmir Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger said.

The closest district to the source of the quakes, Karaburun, did not experience any injuries or loss of property, District Governor İlkay Girgin Erdoğan said.
