Five million foreign tourists arrived in Turkey's top tourism destination Antalya in the first eight months of 2021, and one third of them were from Russia, airport data revealed on Sep. 2.

Some 4,978,036 foreign tourists arrived on 28,071 planes between Jan. 1 and Aug. 30, data showed, and 1.7 million came from Russia. 

Listed among the top 10 cities for vaccination rates in Turkey, the province received 6,415,659 passengers in the first eight months of this year. Of this number, 1.4 million were domestic fliers. 

Ukraine was the second, after Russia, in terms of the number of tourists it has sent to Antalya, with 859,147 Ukrainian arriving in the first eight months, followed by 835,993 passengers from Germany.

Poland, Kazakhstan, Romania, Belarus, Moldova and Serbia followed the top three countries in terms of the number of tourists who left for Antalya.

The month of August alone saw 1,750,344 foreign tourists arriving in Antalya, with another 301,808 domestic passengers visiting the province.
