Flash floods and landslides on Aug. 24 hit six Turkish provinces following heavy rainfall, AA and DHA reported.

Accordingly, heavy rainfall in Kırşehir, Kayseri, Sivas, Konya, Nevşehir, and Kahramanmaraş provinces led to flash floods and landslides. Two people were caught in the floods and died in Kırşehir and Kayseri provinces.

52-year-old Mustafa Akar in Kırşehir’s Uzun Ali village was one of those who lost his life after getting caught in the floods. Akar was found dead four kilometers from where he was lost.

On the other hand, many agricultural fields were damaged in the floods in the village.

Muhittin Saraç was also found dead in Kayseri’s Bünyan district. While the floods swept his vehicle away, he was found dead 10 kilometers away from it.

The floods affected Sivas’ Gürün district due to the overflow of the Tohma Stream. The floods blocked the roads connecting the district to Kayseri and Malatya provinces.

Another affected province was Nevşehir. As the floods swept through the streets, rock fragments falling from fairy chimneys damaged vehicles.

In the Kahramanmaraş province, it rained 8 kilograms per square meter in 10 minutes.
