Former HDP deputy Leyla Güven briefly detained for attending event calling for peace
DTK co-chair and former HDP deputy Leyla Güven was briefly detained on Sept. 17 in the southeastern province of Hakkari for attending an event a day earlier. She was taken to police headquarters after anti-terror police stopped her car and was referred to court after giving her testimony before being released.

Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair and former Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) deputy Leyla Güven was briefly detained on Sept. 17 in the southeastern province of Hakkari for attending a demonstration a day earlier.
Güven's vehicle was stopped by anti-terror police, who told her that an investigation into her was launched for speaking at an event in the province that called for peace.
She was taken to police headquarters and was referred to court after giving her testimony.
She was subsequently released.
Her daughter Sabiha Temizkan announced the former deputy's release.
Güven was stripped of her parliamentary status in June.
