A part of the opposition Nation Alliance, Future (Gelecek) Party Spokesperson Serkan Özcan on July 21 said “Glad we didn’t win (the election)” after the “secret” agreement between Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Ümit Özdağ was revealed.

Özcan told online news outlet Medyascope that “We fought hard to win the elections. We did this so that Turkey would gain a minimum democratic perspective, that is, for the sake of law, human dignity and equality, not to have Ümit Özdağ while we were trying to replace (former Interior Minister) Süleyman Soylu.”

“I would never want to be in a politics that would condemn Turkey to Ümit Özdağ. The last thing Turkey needs is a domestic Wilders policy. Turkey needs law, democracy, equal and honorable citizenship. Turkey needs a system that can be ruled with justice. You cannot make such a reproach with anyone who makes Wilders-style politics and hopes for help. I say ‘I'm glad we didn't win (the election)’,” Özcan said

"Doesn't Kılıçdaroğlu's statement reveal how unreliable a politician he is -he is our elder, of course I respect him, but? How would the country be governed with such an unreliable profile? I personally do this questioning. I do this questioning not as a politician, but as a citizen," he added.

This week, far-right anti-immigrant Victory Party (ZP) leader Ümit Özdağ announced that his party was promised to have three ministries, including the interior, and the National Intelligence Agency (MİT) in exchange for the support of Nation Alliance’s candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu in the second round. Kılıçdaroğlu neither denied nor confirmed the agreement and said “the protocol was signed between us. It's not right for me to talk about that protocol.”

Kılıçdaroğlu said even CHP executives were not aware of the agreement between him and Özdağ.
