President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is expected to carry out a cabinet reshuffle and rearrange ministries.

No changes have been made in the cabinet in the past two years except Erdoğan's decision to remove Transport and Infrastructure Minister Cahit Turhan from duty to replace him with Adil Karaismailoğlu.

Ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) officials have been voicing their expectations on a cabinet reshuffle, as they also say that some ministries might be divided into two taking the problems in the past two years into account.

According to sources, the number of vice presidents might also increase.

The expectations came after various polls showed a decrease in the AKP's votes, adding to the discomfort in the party stemming from losing all metropolitan municipalities to the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) in the local elections last year.

Although expectations for change are common, there are AKP officials who don't think such reshuffle will take place, saying that no changes were made in the party's parliamentary group.

"Why would he change the cabinet when the parliamentary group remains the same?" said one official.
