The Turkish Sports Federation for the Physically Disabled has launched an investigation into the Turkish National Amputee Football Team after visiting main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş.

The team won the 2022 Amputee Football World Cup on Oct. 9, beating Angola 4-1 in the final match in Istanbul.

Then they visited CHP’s Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş in his office on Nov.8 upon the invitation of him.

Mansur Yavaş shared the visit on his social media account and the team gave their shirt to Yavaş as a gift.

Following this visit, a letter was sent to 12 footballers' clubs and three coaches, stating that a disciplinary investigation was launched into them by the Federation, the daily Sözcü reported on Nov. 11.

The letter said that “One of your athletes participated in various programs with the national team uniform/tracksuit without the permission and knowledge of the officials of our Federation. The mentioned athletes were referred to the disciplinary committee.”

Two days after the team's visit to Mansur Yavaş, the federation made a statement on their web site, saying that visits to official institutions and organizations, individuals and institutions, including municipalities, should be made within the knowledge and program of the federation.
