In a statement, Mersin Police Department said they detained U.A, wanted on diffusion notice, after it was noticed that he was working at the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) construction in Gülnar district.

An ISIS suspect working in the construction of Turkey's first nuclear power plant drew ire.

Being built by Russia’s Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation in Mersin province, the power plant is expected to become operational in 2024 but it will take a few years for the plant to operate at full capacity.
