Istanbul experiences traffic jam on first day of COVID-19 full lockdown

On the first day of the COVID-19 full lockdown, bus stops and metro stations in Istanbul were crowded with passengers who were trying to get to work. The Metro Istanbul said that it was providing additional trips due to passenger congestion. Some 61 percent of workers are employed in sectors that are fully exempt from the lockdown rules.

Istanbul, the country's most populated city, did not see much of a decline in its traffic on April 30, despite the COVID-19 full lockdown.
