Izmir hosts Turkey's largest agricultural fair, reps from 75 countries attend

Turkey's largest agricultural fair, the 15th Agroexpo International Agriculture and Livestock Fair, opened its doors this week in Izmir, and among those in attendance were Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Agriculture Nasriddin Najimov, Serbia's Deputy Minister of Agriculture Daria Janjic Nisavich, in addition to participants from 75 countries that have established 954 stands at the fair, which is expected to be attended by 360,000 people.

“Our fundamental target is to create production that is in harmony with nature, and ensure local development by increasing prosperity and making it possible for everyone to access healthy and affordable food,” said Izmir Mayor Tunç Soyer. 

“They country that can feed the world becomes the leader of the world. Agroexpo, which brings together the international agricultural sector and increases trade among countries is very important in this context,” said Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli. 

The fair, in which a total of 2000 businesspeople are expected to conduct meetings with one another, is anticipated to result in a business volume totaling $700 million. The fair represents numerous segments of the agriculture sector, including those producing machinery, seeds, fertilizer, plastic, as well as those engaged in agricultural energy, livestock, beekeeping, and veterinary services, among others.
