Judges and prosecutors recently dismissed due to 'ties with Gülen' appointed after July 15

26 judges and prosecutors that were removed from their posts by decree earlier this month on the basis of having ties with what the government calls the Fethullahist Terror Organization (FETÖ) were appointed to their posts following the failed July 2016 coup attempt, according to a report in the daily Cumhuriyet.

'Turkish intelligence was instructed not to provide military with info on Gülenists'

A number of judges and prosecutors that were removed from their posts by decree earlier this month on the basis of having ties with what the government calls the Fethullahist Terror Organization (FETÖ) were appointed to their posts following the failed July 2016 coup attempt, according to a report in the daily Cumhuriyet.

Composed of followers of the exiled, US-based Islamic cleric Fethullah Gülen, the government accuses FETÖ of being the mastermind of the failed coup. Since the coup, nearly 4000 prosecutors and judges have been fired from their jobs for alleged FETÖ ties.

26 judges and prosecutors were dismissed for this reason on July 10, of which 19 were appointed to their positions after the July 2016 coup attempt, according to Cumhuriyet.

The news raised eyebrows based on the fact that the National Intelligence Agency (MİT) prepares comprehensive research reports on judicial candidates.

More than 150,000 people have been fired from their jobs as teachers, bureaucrats, judges, police officers and military officers since July 2016.
