Just a day after elections, Diyanet inks 45-million-lira worth contract
Diyanet signed a contract for the publication of two religious books for 45 million liras, just a day after the May 14 elections. The state body has spent almost one third of its 35 billion-lira-worth budget in the first three months of this year.

Turkey’s Religious Affairs Directorate (Diyanet) has signed a 45-million-lira contract for the publication of two books, just a day after the May 14 elections, according to reporting by the daily Birgün.
Diyanet held the tender for the publication of two religious books on May 2, each to be printed 2.5 million copies. Ten companies gave their bids in the tender, with Diyanet finalizing its decision 13 days later and choosing Başak Printing Company for a contract worth 45.7 million liras. The printing of 5 million books will be finalized until June 20.
Diyanet was allocated a budget of 35.9 billion liras in 2023 and spent 10.1 billion liras of it merely in the first three months of the year, exceeding the expenses of 28 state bodies.
The Urbanization and Environment spent 10.6 billion liras in the first three months, whereas this number was 5.2 billion liras for the Energy Ministry and 5.3 million liras for the Industry and Technology Ministry.
