The latest poll conducted by KONDA Research has put the support level for President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at 52.7 percent and for opposition Nation Alliance’s presidential candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu at 47.3 percent level. These percentages were found after distributing the undecided voters.

The survey was conducted with 3,607 people in 34 provinces between May 20-21, Euronews’ Turkish service reported on May 25. According to the survey, 8.2 percent of voters were undecided and 2.6 percent said they would not vote.

In its statement, KONDA said that the survey was conducted one week before the May 28 election and the results could still change.

KONDA said that depending on whom the leaders of the collapsed-ATA Alliance and their presidential candidate will support for the second round, there will be “strategic vote shifts.” Also, changes in the participation rate in the election will be a factor in why the survey results might not reflect the actuality.

The result of Turkey's first-round presidential vote bore no resemblance to pollsters' forecasts which had pointed to Kılıçdaroğu in the lead, compounding the surprise for voters alike when President Erdoğan emerged ahead in the race.

The pollsters then started reflecting on where their surveys went wrong ahead of the second round of the presidential elections.

In the first round on May 14, Erdoğan won 49.4 percent of the votes whereas Kılıçdaroğlu 44.9 percent.
