An Istanbul court on Jan. 25 released Emre Olur, who is known as the press advisor of Turkish mafia leader Sedat Peker.

During the last hearing of the case that took place on Jan. 25, the court also imposed an international travel ban on Olur.

Peker's lawyer Ersan Barkın announced Olur's release on Twitter.

A day later, Barkın announced that a higher court decided to arrest Olur again upon the request of the prosecutor.

On Sept. 18, Olur was brought to Istanbul after being detained in Albanian capital Tirana.

Prosecutors have prepared an indictment into Olur over the charges of "being a member of an organization established for the purpose of committing a crime", "intentional wounding with a weapon", seeking up to eight years three months in jail.

Peker, who fled Turkey in early 2020, currently lives in the United Arab Emirates. Last year, the 51-year-old mobster began posting videos and tweets making a series of scandalous claims against political figures, including allegations of murder, rape, corruption and drug trafficking.

In June 2021, the mafia boss said that UAE officials warned him not to share videos due to high-security risks. Afterwards, Peker continued to make his sensational claims via Twitter instead.

Peker sometimes tweeted from Emre Olur's account to spread allegations.
