Organized crime syndicate leader Alaattin Çakıcı On Nov. 15 threatened pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (HEDEP) lawmaker Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu in a post on his social media account.

In his speech in the parliament on Nov. 14, Gergerlioğlu criticized far-right Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Devlet Bahçeli's speech in which he called for the closure of the Constitutional Court (AYM) over the crisis in Turkey’s top judiciary.

"You will behave yourself, Bahçeli, you will recognize the Constitution and the Constitutional Court, and you will settle down," Gergerlioğlu said and also referred to a murder that took place within the MHP and its close organizations.

Gergerlioğlu also told Bahçeli, "You cannot even pronounce my surname correctly, learn Turkish first.”

As a response, crime organization leader Çakıcı released a letter written in very poor Turkish and said “You stupid bloke. Make up your mind, and never say anything out of your depth again."

Çakıcı tried to respond to Gergerlioğlu's criticism of Bahçeli's closeness to him with broken sentences and said that "anyone passing by on the street can have their photo taken with Bahçeli.” He also tried to defend Bahçeli’s Turkish proficiency in further sentence-like structures.

Organized crime leader also “dared” Gergerlioğlu to face him “if he is a real man.” Gergerlioğlu filed a criminal complaint against Çakıcı.

Çakıcı, who stayed in jail for 16 years, was released from the Sincan Prison in the capital Ankara in April 2020, despite being convicted of numerous well-known crimes.

Çakıcı's release had been a long-term project for Bahçeli. Shortly after calling for a general amnesty in 2018, Bahçeli paid a visit to Çakıcı in prison, who he deemed “a lover of the nation.”

In 2011, Çakıcı was sentenced to one year and eight months for his letter containing insults and threats against the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) former leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. He often targets the opposition with remarks on social media.
