Magnitude 5.0 earthquake strikes Aegean Kütahya
A magnitude 5.0 earthquake occurred in the Aegean province of Kütahya's Altıntaş district at 2.04 p.m. local time on Aug. 31, authorities said. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage to buildings.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 struck the Aegean province of Kütahya at 2.04 p.m. local time on Aug. 31. The quake, which centered in the Altıntaş district, was also felt in nearby provinces.
According to the Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Center, the depth of the earthquake was 5 km, whereas Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) put the measure at 7.1 km.
No “adverse situation” has been yet reported, AFAD said in a statement.
Kütahya Mayor Alim Işık also released a similar statement, saying: “The earthquake lasted 5-6 seconds, there is no negative situation.”
Turkey is criss-crossed with faultlines and frequently suffers earthquakes.
Last October, a powerful earthquake measuring magnitude 6.6 struck the Aegean province of İzmir, killing at least 116 people and injuring more than 1,000 others.
