Magnitude 5.0 earthquake strikes eastern Turkey

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 struck Turkey's eastern province of Elazığ on March 19. The quake's epicenter was Sivrice district.

Anearthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 struck Turkey's eastern provinceof Elazığ on March 19.

Thequake hit Elazığ's Sivrice district at 8.53 p.m. local time at adepth of 21 kilometers, according to Turkey's National Disaster andEmergency Management Authority (AFAD).

No casualties or damage has been so far reported.

Theregion is one of the most seismically active districts in thecountry, where earthquakes occur often and are destructive.
