Majority of HDP voters in Istanbul happy with CHP Mayor İmamoğlu, survey reveals

A recent survey revealed that more than 80 percent of pro-Kurdish HDP voters in Istanbul are either "happy" or "very happy" with the performance of Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu from the main opposition CHP.

A large majority of voters of the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) who live in Istanbul are happy with Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu from the main opposition, a recent poll by private Spectrum House Research Center revealed.

Some 68 percent of HDP voters in Istanbul said that they were "happy" with İmamoğlu, the survey showed, while another 16 percent said that they were "very happy" with the mayor from the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP).

A large majority of 93 percent said that they disapproved of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's "crazy project" Kanal Istanbul that plans to build an artificial canal to connect the Black Sea to the Marmara Sea, and five percent said that they were undecided. 

One third of respondents, 29 percent said that the country's biggest problem was the Kurdish issue, while 19.92 said "justice and freedoms," and 14.97 percent said "unemployment."

An overwhelming majority of 89 percent of survey respondents said that they believe early elections should be held.
