Municipality cancels concert of pro-LGBT pop star Cem Adrian after ex-Ankara mayor’s targeting of him
A district municipality of the Yozgat province, run by the MHP, has cancelled a concert of pro-LGBT pop star Cem Adrian after former Ankara mayor Melih Gökçek’s targeting of him.

A district municipality in the Central Anatolian province of Yozgat has cancelled a concert of the famous singer Cem Adrian who is known to be a vocal supporter of LGBTI+ rights.
The move came after former Ankara mayor Melih Gökçek’s targeting of the singer.
Gökçek shared on Twitter the poster of Adrian’s planned concert and wrote, “I can’t believe it…But do not worry…There are responsible valiant people who will not allow it. Hopefully wait for tomorrow.”
Just a day after this tweet, Sarıkaya Mayor Ömer Açıkel, from the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), announced that the concert scheduled for Aug. 6 was cancelled “due to a financial disagreement experienced with the organizer firm.”
After this decision, Gökçek took to Twitter again, thanking “that valiant person” who got the concert cancelled.
