Northern lights dazzle northern Turkey in rare sighting

The Aurora Borealis (northern lights) on Oct. 10 were visible in Turkey's northern provinces. The phenomenon commonly associated with the polar regions was visible on lower latitudes due to heightened solar activity.

Although the phenomenon is most commonly associated with polar regions, it can be seen at lower latitudes. Such events are usually triggered by increased solar activity, including solar flares and coronal mass ejections.
