Opposition mayors Yavaş and İmamoğlu most beloved politicians in Turkey
Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş, from the main opposition CHP, is the most “likable” politician in Turkey, according to a recent survey. Yavaş was followed by Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, again from the CHP, and İYİ Party leader Meral Akşener on the list. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan came fourth on the list of “likeability.”

According to a survey conducted by Metropoll, Turkey's most beloved politician is Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş, from the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP). Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, from the CHP, and İYİ (Good) Party leader Meral Akşener came respectively second and third on the list.
Some 60.4 percent of the survey respondents said that they like Yavaş, while 24.9 percent said they dislike him. Some 10.1 percent said they do not know him.
Some 50.7 percent of the respondents said they like İmamoğlu, while 37.1 percent said they do not like him. Some 6.2 percent said they do not know him.
Akşener came third on the list, with 38.5 percent of respondents saying they like her, while President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan came fourth on the list with a likeability rating of 37.9 percent.
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli, CHP lawmaker Özgür Özel, CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, İzmir Mayor Tunç Soyer, DEVA leader Ali Babacan, Aydın Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu, jailed former Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş, Mersin Mayor Vahap Seçer, Future Party leader Ahmet Davutoğlu, and Felicity Party (SP) leader Temel Karamollaoğlu were the other politicians on the list.
Recent surveys have been showing that President Erdoğan's approval rating has been plummeting amid a deepening economic crisis. Experts have been pointing out that it is impossible for Erdoğan and his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) to receive their previous level of support.
