Orthodox Christian worshippers plunge in Istanbul's Golden Horn to retrieve cross to mark Epiphany

The Fener Greek Orthodox Patriarchate in Istanbul on Jan. 6 celebrated the day of the baptism of Jesus Christ with a special mass. The ceremony was followed by a cross-throwing ceremony in the Golden Horn.

The Greek Orthodox Christian community in Istanbul led by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew celebrated Epiphany on Jan. 6, amid COVID-19 measures.
