Restraining order issued against HDP deputy who assaulted wife
Pro-Kurdish Democratic Peoples' Party (HDP) deputy Mensur Işık was issued a restraining order against his wife. The deputy's wife Ebru Işık reported the assault to health workers, who called the police.

A restraining order was issued against pro-Kurdish Democratic Peoples' Party (HDP) deputy Mensur Işık on July 16 after his wife asked for help from the doctors who treated her injuries from Işık's physical assault.
"News about HDP Muş Deputy Mensur Işık’s assault on his wife Ebru Işık was reported this morning. We have launched an investigation into the incident of violence against a woman that will be based on her statements," HDP Women's Assemblies said in an official statement.
Ebru Işık said that the lawmaker not only assaulted her, but also hid her phone to prevent her from finding transportation from their Ankara home to a hospital.
The deputy eventually took Işık to a hospital some 20 kilometers away, where she reported the assault to health workers, who then called law enforcement.
The women's assemblies also noted that their purpose is to battle all forms of physical violence, no matter who the perpetrator is.
