Following an increase in the special consumption tax (ÖTV) on fuel by about 200%, the government similarly implemented an ÖTV hike on natural gas.

A presidential decree released in the Official Gazette on July 16 read that the ÖTV on natural gas increased from 0.0230 liras to 0.0747 liras per cubic meter (including for residential use), whereas the ÖTV on liquefied natural gas used in vehicles increased from 0.8599 liras to 2.7944 liras.

Earlier in the day, the ÖTV on fuel was increased by 200% as a result of which the price for a liter of gasoline and diesel oil jumped by nearly 21%.
