State enterprise head dismissed after controversial remarks on red meat price increase
The head of Turkey's state-controlled Meat and Milk Board (ESK) Osman Uzun has been dismissed from his post after saying that the formation of "long queues" in front of their stores was behind the recent red meat price increase.

Turkey's state-controlled Meat and Milk Board (ESK) head Osman Uzun was dismissed from his post on March 28.
The move came following Uzun’s controversial remarks about the red price increases that the institute implemented.
Last week, the ESK increased the price of red meat by 48 percent amid skyrocketing inflation.
Uzun later defended this increase, saying that the formation of "long queues" in front of their stores was the reason why they had raised the prices.
“[Cheap meat] was creating long queues. That’s why we increased the prices,” Uzun said.
Following these controversial remarks, Uzun was replaced by former General Director of Animal Husbandry Mustafa Kayhan.
