Suspect in assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise caught in Istanbul
A key suspect in the July 7 assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise has been caught in Istanbul. Samir Handal, who was being sought by an Interpol red notice, has been sent to jail.

A key suspect who was being sought by an Interpol red notice on charges of being involved in the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise, has been caught in Istanbul, Turkey's Demirören news agency reported on Nov. 15.
The Department for Interpol in the Turkish Police has notified the Istanbul Police that the suspect Samir Handal had boarded a plane from the United States and would transit through the Istanbul Airport.
Handal, who was determined to be carrying Palestine and Lebanon passports, landed at the Istanbul Airport at 6.55 a.m. on Nov. 15 and was detained right there.
In line with the instructions of the Justice Ministry, Handal was dispatched to the Gaziosmanpaşa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and later arrested.
According to a report by the Miami Herald, Handal traveled from Miami where he had been hiding since the July 7 assassination.
A total of 28 mercenaries stormed Moise's private residence on the night of July 7 when he was shot to death and his wife injured.
