The number of main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) lawmakers in parliament decreased to 135, after three MPs announced their resignation on Jan. 29.

During a press conference, İzmir deputy Mehmet Ali Çelebi, Karabük deputy Hüseyin Avni Aksoy and Yalova deputy Özcan Özel criticized the CHP's management.

The three parliamentarians are known to have a critical view of the CHP's alliance policies and its stance with regards to pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP).

They had at the beginning of the week held a meeting with CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

Daily Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi had written in his column last week that the deputies were considering following CHP's former presidential candidate Muharrem İnce, who recently launched his own political movement.
