As days ahead of the Turkish elections, 49.3 percent of the respondents said they would vote for main opposition bloc Nation Alliance’s candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, while 43.7 percent of the respondents preferred President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for the presidential race, according to KONDA Research Company’s survey conducted between May 6-7.

On the other hand, 4.8 percent said they would vote for far-right ATA Alliance’s candidate Sinan Oğan, whereas 2.2 percent said Homeland Party’s leader Muharrem İnce, according to the face-to-face survey conducted with 3,480 people in 35 provinces.

However, this survey was conducted before İnce withdrew from the presidential race on May 11. Most of his supporters are expected to vote Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu if they go to the polls.

The survey was conducted also before the physical attack against the Nation Alliance’s vice presidential candidate and CHP Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's rally in Erzurum on May 7.

After the proportional distribution of 11.5 percent swing voters and 2.2 percent voters who said they would not vote in the parliamentary elections, the ruling People's Alliance received 44 percent, the Nation Alliance 39.9 percent, and the Labor and Freedom Alliance 12.3 percent.

According to the survey, 35 percent said they would vote for the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), eight percent said for its coalition partner far-right Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), while 27.3 preferred the Republican People’s Party (CHP), and 12.4 percent preferred the Good Party (İYİ).

On the other hand, 10.5 percent of the respondents said they would for the Green Left Party (YSP), whereas 1.8 said for the Workers’ Party of Turkey.

The YSP became the Peoples' Democratic Party's (HDP) back-up party in the upcoming elections over the HDP's closure risk.

In the June 24, 2018 presidential election, the People's Alliance candidate Erdoğan was elected president in the first round with 52.4 percent of the votes. Other candidates İnce received 30.8 percent of the votes, Selahattin Demirtaş 8.3 percent, Meral Akşener 7.4 percent, and Temel Karamollaoğlu 0.9 percent.
