Erinç Sağkan, the president of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations (TBB), has warned against the cut of internet on the elections night, saying it would be a “coup against national sovereignty.”

“The biggest problem is the cut of the internet. Despite so many remarks, if there is an intervention or restriction of internet, it would be openly a coup against national sovereignty,” he said.

“Despite the existence of so many clear and heavy warnings, if the internet is restricted, it would be a very clear coup against national sovereignty. Such a problem should not occur; if it happens despite this, people will definitely try to overcome this through different opportunities that the internet provides. But whatever happens, it is the tabulated results with wet signatures that matter. If get the tabulated results with wet signatures from 190,000 ballot boxes, even if they cut the internet, and restrict the social media bandwidth, nothing would change. The real data is the data on those tabulated results.”
