Turkey condemns Moscow concert hall attack

Turkey’s Foreign Ministry has condemned the shooting rampage that so far killed more than 100 people in a concert hall near Moscow. FM Fidan called his Russian counterpart Lavrov and expressed his condolences.

Turkey on March 22 condemned the attack in a Moscow concert hall, which so far killed 143 people.

In a written statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said “we strongly condemn this heinous terrorist attack on innocent civilians.”

The ministry also expressed its “deepest condolences to the Russian people and the Russian government.”

On the other hand, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan called his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov and expressed his condolences, state-run Anadolu Agency reported. 

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Özgür Özel also offered "my condolences to the families of those killed in the attack and to the citizens of the Russian Federation."

A shooting rampage so far killed 143 people in a concert hall near Moscow, the deadliest attack in Russia for 20 years. Militant Islamist group Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack. Russia said on March 23 it had arrested 11 people including four suspected gunmen regarding the attack.
