Turkey hits COVID-19 milestone with more patients recovered in one day than new diagnoses

Turkey's Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said that for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country, more patients completed treatment May 3 than persons who were diagnosed with the disease that day. Some 4,892 persons recovered May 3, and only 1,670 persons were diagnosed.

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said May 3 that for the first time during the COVID-19 outbreak, Turkey's number of recovered patients per day was higher than the number of people who were diagnosed with the virus.

"For the first time since March 11, the number of patients who recovered today surpassed the number of newly diagnosed patients. The results will get better as we adhere to the precautions," Koca tweeted.

Some 4,892 persons recovered May 3, and only 1,670 persons were diagnosed.

Some 63,151 patients have recovered from COVID-19 in Turkey since the start of the outbreak March 11, and some 3,397 persons died from the disease.

There are currently some 126,045 COVID-19 patients in Turkey.
