Patriotic Party (VP) leader Doğu Perinçek commented on the recent conflict between Iran and Israel in a press conference in Istanbul.

Perinçek said Israel's strategic goal was “to establish the second Israeli state” under the name of “Kurdistan,” and argued that Iran is not only against Israel but also against the “Second Israel.”

“Turkey, Iran, and Azerbaijan are on the same front. Russia, Syria, Iraq, Palestine, Yemen, and other West Asian countries are with them. Turkey will be divided if Syria and Iran are divided. Turkey loses if Russia loses,” Perinçek argued.

Perinçek also urged the closure of Turkish airspace to Israel and its allies. “The Turkish Armed Forces must take control of the US bases at Incirlik and Kürecik, which are our homeland soil. The Turkish nation, which is at the front with Palestine, is also with Iran.”

Perinçek wore a Palestinian keffiyeh during the conference.

The VP’s partnership with the ruling People’s Alliance ended with the 2023 elections, yet the party supported Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the presidential race. The party remained at 0.10 percent in the 2023 general election.

Perinçek has been known for his pro-China views for decades.
