Turkey plans to roll out COVID vaccines to all over-20s by end of June

Turkey will start COVID-19 vaccination of its citizens in their 20s by the end of June, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has said. Turkey has been prioritizing the oldest age groups and certain occupational groups in its COVID-19 vaccination program. Inoculation for the 45-50 age group started on June 10, whereas citizens in the 40-45 group can get inoculated from June 14.

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has said that everyone over the age of 20 will have been offered vaccination by the end of June.

Koca made the remarks during an interview with Sabah newspaper on June 12.

Turkey has been prioritizing the oldest age groups and certain occupational groups in its COVID-19 vaccination program.

Inoculation for the 45-50 age group started on June 10, whereas citizens in the 40-45 group will start getting their jabs on June 14.

Meanwhile, cargo workers, couriers and employees of intracity and intercity transportation, as well as workers of taxi and minibus services are the most recent occupational groups to have been added to the COVID-19 vaccine priority list.

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said on Twitter on June 11 that the specified workforce can get inoculated from June 12.

Turkey has given over 32.8 million doses since it launched a vaccination campaign in mid-January, the Health Ministry said on June 11.

More than 19.21 million people have received their first doses, while 13.57 million have been fully vaccinated.

The ministry also confirmed 6,261 new coronavirus cases and 69 virus-related fatalities on June 11. The number of new cases on June 10 was 6,408.
